Именно тогда сестренка Марка Хоппуса (Mark Hoppus), нынешнего бас-гитариста и вокалиста "блинков", познакомила его с 14-летним Томом Дилонжем (Tom Delonge). Которого сегодня можно увидеть в роли гитариста\вокалиста Blink 182.
Марк Хоппус родился и рос в семье инженера, специализировавшегося на создании новейших типов оружия. Так что одним из приятных моментов его отрочества стали постоянные переезды не только из штата в штат, но и по всему миру. Этого требовала работа отца. В конце 80-х семейство Хоппусов осело в Сан Диего, где Марк научился играть на басухе, подбирая соответствующий звукоряд песен The Cure и The Descendants.
Пригласив в качестве барабанщика Скотта Рэйнора (Scott Raynor), новорожденная группа Blink (тогда еще без -182) стала выступать в клубах Сан Диего и его окрестностей. Тогда же ребята подружились с музыкантами из легендарной команды The Vandals. Группу сначала назвали Duck Tape, но буквально через несколько дней сменили название на Blink. Название придумал Том потому что, по его словам, он просто любит короткие глаголы. Новоявленная комманда для начала решила играть в местных школах. Большинство подростков тогда было без ума от панк-музыки, так что они были всегда востребованы. Проблема заключалась в том, как обьяснить школьной администрации зачем нужны их выступления. И тогда Марк сказал, что их группа ведет кампанию против наркотиков. Под такой отмазкой они играли во многих школах, пока кто-то из учителей не вслушался в слова таких песен как "Does My Breath Smell" или "Ben Wah Balls". Но своих первых поклонников они уже завоевали. Вскоре группа уже играла в клубах Сан-Диего для широкой публики. При всесторонней поддержке со стороны последних в 1994 году под лэйблом Kung Fu появилась дебютная запись Хоппуса и Ко - "Buddha". Правда, в виде магнитофонных кассет и тираж был всего 23 кассеты.
Спустя чуть менее года "блинки" привлекли к себе внимание Cargo Records. Осторожные деятели этой компании подписали с группой контракт на один альбом, справедливо рассудив, что о дальнейшем сотрудничестве поговорить всегда успеется. Вышедший в 1995-м диск "Cheshire Cat" не стал событием, но зато ребята получили популярность благодаря концертным выступлениям. Среди позитивных моментов того времени можно безусловно назвать контракт со столь крупным лэйблом как MCA. Но случалось и неприятное. Типа судебного разбирательства, коим пригрозила ирландская группа ... Blink! Теперь понятно, откуда взялись те самые "загадочные" цифры ?
В 1997 году Blink-182 выпустили очередной (и первый на MCA) альбом "Dude Ranch". Забавно, но наивысший - платиновый - статус был получен этим диском сначала в Австралии. В то время как популярность "Dude Ranch" среди американцев и канадцев позволила новой работе группы достичь только "золота". По результатам 97-го года первый сингл с "Dude Ranch" - песня "Dammit (Growing Up)" - попала в пятерку самых-самых популярных композиций радиоэфира нескольких американских станций. Немудрено, что на проходивший тогда разъездной фест Warped Tour парни были приглашены в качестве хэдлайнеров. Плюс изрядно покатались по странам и континентам вместе с Unwritten Law, Homegrown и Less Than Jake. Гастроли начались в середине 97-го и завершились лишь к Рождеству следующего года.
В январе 1999-го Blink-182 вернулись в Сан Диего и начали студийную работу (в Signature Sound) по обработке нового материала. Под руководством продюсера Джерри Финна, которoму в свое время доверили судьбу своих записей Green Day, Rancid и Pennywise. К тому моменту команду покинул Рэйнор (по словам Хоппуса, расставание было безболезненным), взамен которого в составе оказался экс-ударник The Vandals Трэвис Баркер (Travis Barker). Результатом трехмесячного музицирования стала пластинка "Enema of the State", реализованная в июле 99-го. Панк, панк и еще раз панк. Хотя и не без коммерческого успеха.
"У тебя есть история группы, у которой в видеоклипе парни голышом бегают ?" - вопрошал меня в своем письме НикоLa. Точно, одним из самых запоминающихся клипов прошлого года стала видеоинтерпретация песни "What`s My Age Again ?". Действо, в котором музыканты Blink-182 нагишом рассекают по улицам, снималось непосредственно в Сан Диего. Причем съемки были натурными, а эпизодические персонажи - это самые реальные прохожие, оказавшиеся нечаянными свидетелями необычного забега. Кстати, для обложки "Enema of the State" ребята позаимствовали фото порнозвезды Джанин.
Осенью группа отправилась в совместное турне с героями из Silverchair. В производство также была запущена запись классической вещицы "Dead Man`s Curve". Сделано это было специально для телевизионного минисериала, посвященного тернистому пути Рок-н-Ролла.
В июне 2001 года вышел их новый альбом Take Off Your Pants And Jacket, мгновенно завоевавший популярность и первое место в рейтинге Billboard. Альбом также получил премию Teen Choice Award. Энергии, с которой сыгран альбом, хватило бы, наверное, для записи пластинок всех существующих бойз-бэндов в мире. Записано все на одном дыхании, и слушается аналогично. Спокойно внимать услышанному - невозможно: сразу хочется куда-нибудь бежать сломя голову, скакать, прыгать, кататься на роликах-великах, безумствовать и отрываться по полной программе.
Самой последней их пластинкой на данный момент стал новый альбом, вышедший 18 ноя 2003, он не имеет названия и кратко именуется blink182. Стиль музыки немного отличается от предыдущих творений и многие слушатели не высказывают большого интереса по этому поводу. Сейчас парни опять разьезжают по стране с концертами со своим новым альбомом. Metadoro Forex brand is owned by RHC Investments, registered in 2016 in Mauritius. However, the Financial Services Commission belongs to a Tier 3 regulatory zone and doesn’t keep such good records.
